21 Day Fast for Spiritual Alignment | Get Closer to God

Jan 10, 2021Fasting and Prayer, Guided Fasts

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”
~ John 15:4 (NKJV)

This guided fast is the fruit of Pastor Jide Lawore of Agape House of Worship (AHOW Church) based in Roselle, New Jersey, U.S.A. The full PDF of the fast can be found here.

Starting 2021 with this fast was like embarking on a new beginning with God. I felt stagnant in my spiritual growth and development over the past few years. I’ve had moments of profound revelation, I’ve suffered through trials that have matured me, refined my character, and increased my patience and understanding, but I still lacked discipline and power and I was growing less and less sure of my purpose. I could not shake the feeling that I was wasting time.

I had been working on this website for months and it looked pitiful, not a single helpful post was completed and I felt like I couldn’t fully visualize the ideal outcome let alone know how to progress.

Within ONE week of this fast I was able to publish this blog.

Not only did the fast allow me to draw near to God, it fed a yearning in me for security, purpose, and guidance. What I did find though, is that it did not take long for me to feel hungry again! I missed him so much that I came up with a plan to stay close.

God cherishes intimacy with you. When you set the world aside to take time just to be with him, talk to him, and love on him, he will shower you with appreciation in the form of wisdom, answers, healing, assurance, ideas, forgiveness and love in the ways that you need it.

Below is an outline of the fast including the reading passage and key scripture provided for each day. I highly recommend downloading and printing out the detailed guide PDF.

Search the Bible

Studying the bible is essential to intimacy with God. Blue Letter Bible has been my favorite bible search site since the beginning of my journey with God. They have easy tools to dig deep into the meaning of words and phrases that will undoubtedly increase your understanding and help you get closer to God.
